MMM+B brought a class action against EchoStar and WebTV, a division of Microsoft, in Alameda County, California on behalf of consumers who purchased DishPlayers, a combination satellite receiver/personal digital video recorder. The complaint described the DishPlayer as "the most unreliable consumer electronics product ever brought to market." MMM+B was able to negotiate a successful nationwide class settlement allowing for the provision of substantial benefits to both current and former customers of EchoStar and WebTV that were users of the defective DishPlayer product.
