MMM+B believes that sharing risks and rewards makes attorneys work harder for their clients for a number of reasons. First, in contingency fee arrangements, the attorneys do not feel constrained by concerns as to whether the client can afford or should have spent money on a particular task. Second, where affordability is a concern for a client, hourly engagements can cause suspicion and stress where teamwork is needed. And third, when people know they won't get paid unless they get results, people get results.
